7 Common Martial Arts Logo Design Errors

7 Common Martial Arts Logo Design Errors

by John Graden | Dec 5, 2018 | Planning Your Martial Arts School

This is part three of our Creating an Attractive School series. In this 1-minute video, you’ll see 7 logos in need of serious help and why. This will help you to evaluate your own logo and decide if you’d like to start the new year with an upgraded logo.

The best logos are simple like Apple. They don’t tell stories. I paidĀ $350 for this USA Karate logo in 1986. I told the designer I wanted a look similar to a sports team.

It’s a good idea to visualize how your logo would look on a hat, shirt or jacket. On school patches, you have to pay for each color. Some of these logos would never work on a patch or hat.

It may seem a bit dated today, but I think it’s better than 90% of the martial arts logos today. I had to shoot this off a sweatshirt since I no longer have it on anything but video andĀ old apparel.
